DREAM TEAM
"Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family. Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one" - Jane Howard
We've been blessed to have some pretty amazing people in our lives. They've been with us through ups, downs, and everything in between. We couldn't fathom starting this next chapter without our tribe by our side, so we asked a few of these fine folks to stand with us as we exchange vows.
Allow us to introduce you to our bridal party.
MELANIE HAYNES [MAID OF HONOR]
Known since: 1986
First met: I was only 2 when my eldest sister came home from Cali for Thanksgiving with a wriggly little chocolate glowworm. I think it was the first time I encountered someone smaller than me. It was love at first sight.
I think of Mel when Trading Places comes on TV every holiday season
Our reality show would be called “Shaniqua and Quesadilla’s Bomb Ass Trip”
Kevin JacksoN [BEST MAN]
Known since: 1985
First Met: Out The Womb
My favorite memory of Kev is trying to inflate a bike tire only to have the tire explode while standing over it, causing Kevin's hat to be blown off.
Jazmin Archer [BRIDESMAID]
Known since: 2012
First met: In grad school at George Washington University.
I think of Jaz whenever I see a travel deal online. I'll always remember us running around Ghana and South Africa, and our 22-hour adventure in Dubai!
Our reality show would be called “All Because of Tonga”
Bianca bonbon [BRIDESMAID]
Known since: 2002
First met: Fall semester, freshman year at Boston University
I think of Bia when I hear Liberian Girl by Michael Jackson
Our reality show would be called “Thick Thighs Save Lives”
Lorraine Lacroix Williamson [BRIDESMAID]
Known since: 2002
First met: Freshman orientation at Boston University
I think of Lo when I hear people speaking creole and any song by Craig David
Our reality show would be called "Curry Goat & Griot"
Ryan Connell [GROOMSMAN]
Known since: 1998
First Met: 7th Grade Homeroom
My favorite Ryan memory is throwing snowballs at cars in front of my house. Ryan accidentally hitting a cop car and me running away before Ryan even realized what happened.
Chris Eastwood [GROOMSMAN]
Known since: 2006
First Met: College House Party
My favorite Chris memory is end of senior year in undergrad. A lot of late night hangouts complete with trips to the local diner around 3 am.
Ramona & Daphne Clark
[Flower girls]
Known since: 2015 (when they were born!) when I had the honor of becoming their Godmother
Noah Wade [GROOMSMAN]
Known since: 1994
First Met: Elementary School Bus
My favorite Noah memory? Two words...Baby Powder.
“When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of “Me too!” be sure to cherish them. Because those weirdos are your tribe.”
