WHAT TO EAT, DRINK, AND SEE IN DC

There are tons of things to see and do while you're down in the District! You can explore the city by foot and check out the White House and the US Capitol building. You can also jump on the DC Circulator (red line) to see the National Mall, Smithsonian museums and monuments.

Below are a few recommendations to get you started, but the options are limitless so do your research and plan ahead!

Georgetown

Georgetown is a charming area with Federal-style architecture, cobblestone streets and retail shops of all kind. Here you'll also find restaurants, bars, and live music lounges. Georgetown Waterfront Park has a riverside promenade, gardens, and a bike path along the C&O Canal.

THE BIG BOARD

The Big Board is a local bar & grill that takes its name from the stock market, and tries to function in the same way. The prices on all of the draft beers fluctuate according to how many have been ordered. The more of a beer is ordered, the lower the price drops. In addition to a solid beer selection, they offer nightly specials and make a mean burger.

Union Market

Union Market is home to more than 40 local vendors offering food, drinks, crafts, and more! The Market opens from 11am to 8pm Tuesday -Friday, and 8am to 8pm Saturday and Sunday.

National Zoological ParK

The Smithsonian's National Zoological Park, commonly known as the National Zoo, is one of the oldest zoos in the United States. The Zoo sits on 163 acres in the heart of DC’s Rock Creek Park and is home to more than 1,500 animals across 300 different species. Admission is free.

National Museum of African American History & Culture

The Smithsonian NMAAHC is the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture. Tickets are FREE! Normally timed-entry passes are necessary. However, passes are not required for weekdays during the month of September.

Flight Wine Bar

Flight is a small wine bar in DC's Chinatown area. The wine list includes over 460 wines served via flights, glasses, or by the ounce. Each wine can be expertly paired with a yummy selection from their dinner menu.

Founding Farmers is owned by the more than 40,000 family farmers of the NDFU, serving American inspired real food and drink with an emphasis and focus on cooking from scratch. FF is located in DC's Foggy Bottom neighborhood. It also has 2 sister establishments -- Farmers & Distillers in the Mt. Vernon area, and Farmers, Fishers & Bakers down by the Georgetown Waterfront.
